Around the Web – 02/02/14

What it is Hulklings! Time for your weekly round up (this is when the gak would fall if this were Nickelodeon). Have a good batch of sites from all my favorite sites this week, including a new partner, The Nostalgia Blog! Want to become a friend of The Credible Hulk? Comment below, or follow any of the contact links on the side. Here’s what I’ve enjoyed this week.

Stay-At-Home Gaming – Facebook Twitter

It takes talent to add a different slant to video game writing, in addition to making it entertaining. Stay-At-Home Gaming has that in spades. While their reviews are solid, covering a wide variety of games old and new, I look forward to the random Gaming Fun posts. Everything at SAH is creative, and most importantly, fun.

Politics with Bloodshed: Battlefield vs Call of Duty Part II: A gamers dilemma, which bro shooter do you go with? This is a great breakdown between the two games covering story, graphics and the like with a dash of wit. Plus, I love this image.

What’s Your Tag? – Facebook / Twitter

With so much gaming news coming out daily, it’s easy to miss most of it. What’s Your Tag? has your back. From great reviews to all manner of gaming news, small and big, WYT? is smart and fun. Plus, their weekly comic strip is hilarious.

2D Boxshot Wizard v1.1

Peggle 2 Review – I have a confession, I’ve had a brand new Xbox One since launch and have yet to open it. I know, I know. I missed that Peggle 2 was released for the console. I’m hooking the console up right now. Thanks AWGfail.

The Two Headed Nerd Comicast with Joe and Matt – Facebook / Twitter

THN is one of my favorite podcasts. I can’t wait for the new episode each week. Hosts Matt Baum and Joe Patrick have a great dynamic, as well as produce a quality product. I know how much work goes into making a podcast, and seeing how tightly scripted their show is, along with all the background music, puts me in awe. Even if your interest in comics is passing, give them a listen, you’ll be entertained. Full disclosure, I write the Saturday Morning Cartoon series for THN.

Black Sails Premier Review – At the request of my overlord Matt Baum, I wrote an exclusive review for the premier of Black Sails. Since I won’t be posting this on my site, I wanted to highlight it here. That and they didn’t publish too much this week. It’s a podcast, what do you expect.

Button Smashers – Facebook / Twitter

Gaming and anime go hand in hand. Button Smashers has you covered on both fronts. The group of writers over there (which I’m proud to count myself amongst) publish great articles ever week. All manner of awesome and far out gaming corners are covered, as well as modern anime.

Mass Effect Franchise: Part 1 Introduction and Mass Effect 1 – I wrote a post about the first Mass Effect, but holy crap does this blow mine out of the water. An in depth look at the first game and conception of the series, I can’t wait for the next part!

The Nostalgia BlogFacebook / Twitter

Who doesn’t love a good flashback? The Nostalgia blog has everything you’d want from “hey, remember this?” to news of comeback from anything, 80s, 90s, or anything retro. Growing up across both decades, I constantly look forward to posts on this site.

Rocky IV: A Movie of Montages – Rocky IV is pretty middle of the road as far as Rocky movies go. While it does have some merit, I never released how many montages this had. Wow, 80s to the max!

The end. dun Dun DUN! What do you think? Suggestions? Want to be featured here? Comment below!

Food time.

  1. Oddly enough, I just picked up Ghosts and Battlefield 4 for Xbox One just to have something to jump in to online. I’m a hell of a lot more familiar and comfortable with the CoD style of multiplayer and BF4 is my first real attempt with Battlefield at all. Ghosts had a rock solid campaign and Extinction is pretty fantastic when matchmaking works. I’m working through BF4’s campaign now farming achievements, but the 2 hours I played multi I was getting destroyed. It’s a totally different experience from CoD, and since I pretty much suck at CoD, I’m balls awful at BF4 lol.

Thanks for linking back to my Peggle 2 review! Sorry that it ruined 2 months of celibacy!

      • Honestly, I have had absolutely no problems with BF4 online. Matchmaking has been super fast, servers have been stable, and aside from a few terrain glitches, it’s been business as usual.

CoD Ghosts, however, the matchmaking has been fine for multiplayer, but for Extinction it won’t let me join with an xbox live party. It’s been a bug since December for some people and it’s still not fixed.
